Ok,

So I was using dial up for internet access, I got a cable
modem and switched to broadband. B4 I was using a modem,
and internet connections sharing with a wireless router.
when changed to broadband i pulled the modem and wireless
card and put in a wired card to a linksys router.
Windows XP Pro now will let me access the internet but I
cannot download any files, including windows updates,
program files (like antivirus, spybot install etc.) or
even virus updates. I have tried removing and
reinstalling the network and an inplace repair of windows
XP Pro to no avail. Though I don't think I was
successfull at removing the older network drivers. New
net card is linksys lne100tx

anyone have a procedure to fix or repair this, preferably
without reinstalling windows completely?

Thanks in advance
Scott c
