I got the same problem. This is my setup:

Laptop with XP home. Has all my files on it.
Just purchased desktop XP home.
Older desktop with Linux. (thank god)
DLink wireless router 802.11b I think.

I set up a network this weekend. I got the linux and desktop to work. However, the laptop never allowed me to access shared resources on either desktop or vice versa. I was just going to start a full install of linux on my laptop so I can at least use a freakin network but then my desktop went down while I was out running errands. Now the linux samba cant 'access SID'. The shitP says I dont have permission to access the server (even on the same freakin client that the workgroup is trying to access). The only things I did between the time it was working and the time it decided to go down was install Xdrive. I did a FULL REINSTALL of XP from the OEM's disks and the problem is still present.

So will one of you microsoft dweebs please help me out here. I have done the (joke) networking wizard to setup a small home office network. Dont tell me about the firewall disabled crap. That was all checked and verified to the end with the troubleshooting wizard. Just tell me how to make it work.

Since this is the most popular issue discussed on this website... why dont yall just figure it out for me. And no I dont have ZoneAware or whatever. However I do have norton antivirus. I couldnt find anything relevant to file sharing on the program.

Emailing me directly would be nice too.

Thanks,

KC
