We have recently got a broadband connection which was
activated a few days ago.. The software was installed and
the modem was plugged in. The computer connected but after
about one minute online an error is displayed on screen.

It says that a shutdown has been initiated by NT
AUTHORITY/SYSTEM, because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
service terminated unexpectedly.

We have tried uninstalling the modem and re-installing. I
have tried the software and modem on three different
computers and the same thing happens.

The computers seem to work fine when not connected to
broadband. I considered the problem that the copy of XP is
faily old and needs a serious update, or explorer or some
other program may be the problem.

The computers are running Windows XP Home and more than
match the specification required by BT Broadband. 512Mb
RAM 1.8Ghz. DVD R/W Nvidia GeForce. etc...

Please, can you tell us what is happening. We can't stay
online for long enough to try and
download any software, drivers patches, or look at any
forums and technical support pages.

Thank you.
