windows internal internet conection firewall hangs

hi y'@all,

having trouble wiht the build-in firewall of XP as it hangs
during startup. It gives an error message as follows:
EVENT_SERVICE_START_HUNG. Any clue how to get it up
working? Tried already the manual start option which did
not resolve the matter.
