I've bought a new Dell PC (WinXP) and trying to network with old (Win98) system, through Linksys Router. I got brave and tried to do this on my own-- looked simple. Followed XP Network Wizard instructions carefully, using OS CD, but does NOT work: The network neighborhoods just don't show the other PC, and when I try to access the neighborhood on the new PC, says I don't "have permission !" Now, I had a previous network set up, between old system and a laptop (WinXP)-- someone else did that set up. I did not change any of that-- I just ran the wizard over the old config. I Did change the Network name in the process on all PC's. Thanks in advance for your help-- I'm shut down !
