Inability to map drive when disconnected from domain

Forgive me if this is obvious, but I'm new to XP.

I have a laptop running WXP SP1. I have a software
package that requires a drive mapping to itself.

I set up the share, right-clicking on the folder. On the
security tab, I set the security for "local users"
to "full control". On the sharing tab, I set permissions
for "everyone" to "full control".

I then logged out and logged in under a normal, non-
administrative account. When connected to the network,
the share works fine. However, when disconnected from the
network, the folder does not show an available share (no
little hands).

I'm obviously missing a step. Any suggestions?
