one way communication often indicates a firewall problem.
It sounds as if the problem may lie with computer 2 (i.e
it can send data out but is blocking access attempts by
computer1) Turn off all firewalls whilst troubleshooting
(the inbuilt firewall on XP should be turned off anyway
on a network - this is only intended for one pc with a
direct internet connection)make sure that any third party
firewalls are also disabled/uninstalled. If this solves
the problem, you can then go back in and configure the
firewall to allow LAN traffic.
