Thanks, but do you know of anything that doesn't require special client
software? I didn't want to overcomplicate my original question, but I'm not
running Windows on all the computers, and therefore can't use anything
Windows-specific.

With the printer, I can just right-click it and go to Sharing. Can't you do
this with a scanner?
