Congratulations on getting the network going and for your concern
about security!

Each computer needs its own AV program to protect against viruses in
E-mail and other sources.

Enabling XP's Internet Connection Firewall on the host's shared
Internet connection protects all of the computers from undesired
incoming access by Internet hackers. However, it doesn't protect any
of them against undesired outgoing access by spyware or Trojan horse
programs that get onto your computers. If that's a concern, run a
firewall with that capability on each computer, making sure that the
one on the host computer is compatible with ICS.
