RE: wmp.dll error

Well, the easy fix is to go into your add/remove programs, select the "show
updates" button and remove the WMP11 security update... it contains the wrong
version of the file and when you remove it the old one is reinstated.

I suppose you could then make a copy of the correct version of the file, do
the security update again, and then copy if back, but chances are that is the
file that the security vulnerability is in anyways so I'm just leaving it
without the update for while...

after perforiming microsoft updates a few days ago i receive an error when
opening media player

"The file wmp.dll has a version number of 11.0.5721.5230 where
11.0.5721.5145 was expected.

Windows Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled

Do you want to install the player from the Microsoft Web site?"

If i select yes and download it i get another error message that refers to
advpack.dll file.

any suggestions?
