If it's a couple of weeks old, then it was the first beta.
The second beta release was made available since then, so you should try it (just install over the top) or go to v10.

I downloaded the latest version of WMedial Player 11 a couple of weeks ago.
It plays fine, but won't rip or burn from/to cd's. If I select Rip, nothing
happens. No error message, nothing. It tells me the number of tracks left to
rip, but does nothing.
I've got all latest updates. Anyone help? This is driving me nuts. The
previous version worked fine.
