Right click on the little speaker down in the task bar and left click on it

No, it doesn't help. It seems like maybe it only wants to record from a
microphone, the Help function says you need one, but another place in Help
it
says you just need an Audio Input Device, defined as a mic or a CD-player
for
examples. Is there a way to do it in Media Player instead of just using
Sound Recorder? I only want about 5 seconds' worth of the song.
