listening to cd hearing games sounds

I like to listen to my cd
s while playing games.
Problem is I don't want
to hear the games and
I can hear both. I am
running Winxp home
used to know how to
fix before this comp.
but don't now. Any
suggestions. Also
while I am here I can
only read part of post
the far right hand is cut off
how do I fix that?
