Hi,
I spent my entire weekend formatting then install win XP pro. I then
downloaded SP1 and other patches. My sound system was working fine. Suddenly
this morning when turning on my computer I noticed that I did not get any
sound even the windows system sounds. But when checking my sounds and audio
devices under control panel, I noticed there was no audio device set. I
could not check nor uncheck anything. I went to check my hardware to see if
my sound card was installed properly. Everything was fine. My sound card was
installed. I uninstall it and from purchased CD resources reinstall the
drivers. Reboot the computer and nothing seemed to change. When I put a
music CD, WMP tells me that there is a problem with my sound device. I'm
getting very frustrated with it. I spent more time getting windows to work
than doing my work. Specially when the most unexpected of all happen. I do
not understand. I have had this computer for about 2 years now and always
run XP pro. I decided to reformat to gain speed and be viruses & worms free
for a while. Over night I defrayment the computer under safe mode. Before
it, everything was working properly. I have done everything I could think of
to resolve the problem. I don't know another way to get the sound card
working. I even check in the device manager if my Avance AC97 Audio was
enabled.
Can someone help, I really don't know what went wrong over a night? Really
thinking of switching to Linux but would rather be with a familiar platform.
