it sometimes depends on the options used when recording the 8mm tape.... one
recorded in Extended Play mode might not work on a digital 8 camcorder.

I will check to see if mine does this but it really wasn't the high end
player. Why won't this play my old tapes though? I bought the dig8 so I
could
still see these tapes. Glad I didn't throw away my old Canon.

I have an HP m7360n media center pc that has a set of video inputs on============================================
thefront panel and I have been trying to capture some 8mm camcorder
video. I seem to be able to get the video but am not getting the
audio from the tape. I have checked it on the tv and know that there
is audio. This is an old Canon 8 mm but these tapes will not play on
my Sony digital 8 for some unknown reason or I would be using that to
rip these. In audio device I am using: Line in/mic in, audio input
source: Line in 1 or 2, and Video input source: Composite. I do hav a
conexant Falcon II NTSC Video Capture that is in the available
devices area but when I pick that in the audio it hangs the Movie
Maker. I have WMM version 2.1.4026.0. Thanks for the help.
What if you use the Sony as a passthrough device?
