Re: Cannot reduce time of MM project

Many thanks for this John. However, the problem is definitely with Movie
Maker. I can reduce the number of scenes in my project until it only runs
for three minutes but Movie Maker still thinks that the project is 6 hours
and 16 minutes long - no matter what I do I cannot get it to understand that
the project is now only three minutes long.

I am using MM version 6.0.6000.16386. I have created a project which
is some 8 hours and 46 minutes long. When I try to delete some of
the scenes so that I can save it onto DVD it will delete all the
scenes selected but the time will only reduce to some 6 hours 16
minutes and 50 seconds - which is too long to copy onto a DVD. How
can I reduce my project so both the scenes and the time are deleted
so that I can copy onto a DVD?

This is a big project...I can only offer some ideas...

Good luck.

If this is just for archival purposes...IOW...a Data
DVD you would be limited by file size not duration.
However...for a Video DVD...durationis the
determining factor.

I'm amazed that you were able to create a project
of that size without crashing Movie Maker.

A single layer 4.7 GB DVD Blank will hold one hour
of quality video...more if your authoring software
has options to compress the file to fit. Windows
DVD Maker has the following limits...the higher
compression...the lower the quality.

Single sided single layered
150 minutes

Single sided dual layered
300 minutes

I'm thinking you should start over and create smaller
projects.

Here's some info on Windows Vista DVD Maker...

For one thing...there's a hard coded limit of 18
scenes on a DVD. In an 8 hour project I suspect
you have more than that.
