Re: *More* Movie Maker 2 reinstall

John, I tried the c/windows/inf process. All works correct except that the
disk they ask for is the xp sp2 disk, not my xp pro disk. And the sp2 disk
does not have any i386 file with any mm 2.1 file in it? Notr are there any mm
2.1 files on the cd that I can see.

Just some more thoughts on the subject.....

Some users have reported problems
after installing IE7. If this applies to your
situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be worth
a try.

I've also seen a report that disabling the
ffdshow codec could be the fix. To accomplish
this...open Movie Maker and go to...Tools /
Options / Compatibility tab...Uncheck...
ffdshow / OK.

(You can disable ffdshow with this command:
regsvr32.exe /u "C:\Program Files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax"
After running that command, the regular
DivX/XviD codecs will be used instead of ffdshow.
You can enable ffdshow again with this command:
regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax" )

After reviewing several different Movie Maker sites on Microsoft.com,
I see there are 3D Movie Maker notes on the files that are included
on a CD. How can one obtain this CD or download it? I can not fine
any links for doing so. Also, can one just get the movie maker 2.1
files or an exe just to reinstall it?

The following steps previously offered by
Carlos, MCSE are supposed to reinstall
MM2.1.

(you'll need your Windows XP Disk)

1. Go to C:\Windows\inf
2. Right click on Moviemk.inf and click on Install
3. When it asks for your Windows XP cd put
it in and browse to the I386 folder. Click OK
