Hi8 footage is analog... and you need some analog to digital conversion
device.
if you can borrow a mini-DV camcorder that supports 'pass-thru' you can
connect the Hi8 to the mini-DV and use it to do the conversion as the
capture flows through it. See my website's Setup MM2 in XP > MM2.1... which
added the 'pass-thru' feature.
