Re: MM won't work after system recovery.

I found 2 files in the inf area, 1 was moviemk and 2nd was moviemk.PNF. The
moviemk was a setup file with the option to install. I chose this one, as the
other, moviemk.PNF had no such option. I did as directed, and after all
activity stopped, I waited for some kind of confirmation, but none came.

I tried MM and it still was exactly the same. Files start to import, my pc's
activity light was active, then the error message would come up again.
Nothing showed in collections, at that time.

I closed MM, reopened it and all the files were in the Collections pane,
but, while they would play in the preview pane, they could not be inserted in
the storybook.

Is there some direction to point me to???

Thanks so much for the info and for your time. My problem must be unique, but
I hope this info takes care of it.

I looked in here for N "edit" button, but I guess one can not edit entering
an e-mai without thinking.
Thanks again, John
PS:I'll post back if it works.

Yes, I now have IE6.

Yes, I have MM version 2.1.40260

Yes, as I stated earlier, I went to a download site, and after
clicked to install, I got the message that I already had SP2.

Sorry for all the messages, BUT I felt you should have all the info,
and what I had tried to do. I didn't want to leave anything out.

If it would be easier, you could e-mail me at rgsmile@xxxxxxxxxxx

No...I do not wish to e-mail you privately.

FWIW...Posting your e-mail address in a
newsgroup is an excellent way to get spam.
There are bots constantly trolling for new
addresses.

Ok...initially I thought there was some doubt
as to which version of Movie Maker you were
running.

The following steps previously offered by
Carlos, MCSE are supposed to reinstall
MM2.1.

1. Go to C:\Windows\inf
2. Right click on Moviemk.inf and click on Install
3. When it asks for your Windows XP cd put
it in and browse to the I386 folder. Click OK
===

Good luck...I've told you all I know.
