I'm running WinXP Pro with all updates. I'm having this same error message
problem. It first occurred a couple of months ago while I was still using
IE6. I downloaded IE7 the other day, but Movie Maker still doesn't want to
work. I followed all the instructions from Dean Rowe's WebLog which involved
reinstalling XP SP2 and I also checked the error log. It said: "Faulting
application moviemk.exe version 2.1.4026.0 faulting module qedit.dll version
6.5.2600.21800, fault address 0x0001ad8d." WHAT NOW??? This is driving me
crazy.

I've had the computer for two years and for the past week it has not
worked.
I only upgraded to IP7 yesterday so it didn't work before then. I've been
on
the phone with HP in India for the past hour and they don't know what the
problem is either. I also did a system restore back to August 1 and I'm
still getting the same message.

Has it ever worked?
If so, have you recently made any changes to your pc, like installing
IE7?
IE7 has caused this for a few people, so revert back to IE6 and test.
Use system restore for any other changes yu have made.
If you don't know if it ever worked before, and you run SP2, check this
page
and the link to Dean Rowe's blog about how to check on MM's files and
folders.

I can open Windows Moviemaker but then I immediately get a message
saying
"Windows Moviemkaer has encountered a problem and nees to close.
Please
tell
Microsoft about the problem. The error report includes the operating
system
version and computer hardware in use; your digital product ID, which
could
be
used to identify your license; and the Internet Protocol (IP) address
of
your
computer". Can anyone help?
