It could be a problem with the source files. What types (file extensions) are the images and audio files?
Or it could be due to the project being too complex although that usually only causes problems when you try to save the video. How long is the project in minutes? How many images & transitions are in the project?
Finally for a project of this type, all audio & images, I recommend using Microsoft Photo Story 3 instead of Movie Maker. It is also free from Microsoft and is designed to work with images & audio where Movie Maker is designed to work with videos. The result would be a WMV video file.

WMM is crashign when ever i try to add a picture or vid to what I am allready
working on. Let me explain, I am crating a music video for my baseball team.
I haev allready layed te music, and I have a bunch of stills that go to the
beat of the song. I need to add more do to the length of the intro, and when
ever i try to add more WMM just crashes, not freeze, it just closes, no error
message. This happenes regardless of where I insert the pic, or what pic, I
have tried diffrent images and also inserting vids, all with the same result.
I am on XP, I believe i have WMM 2, but not sure. Please help, im on a
time line, as we are hoping to use this video I am creating at a sport
festival.
Thank you
