If you can import as DV-AVI then do that. You won't need to learn another
video program since you can use the DV-AVI in Movie Maker.
Yes the information about Movie Maker says it accepts MPEG files and as far
as MPEG Type 1 files go sometimes it does. But more often than not MPEG
files end up causing various problems at different times during the process
so it isn't a good idea to work with them unless you have a lot of aspirin
and/or like headaches.
MPEG Type 2 files will not work at all with Movie Maker.

Yes, I can capture as DV.AVI. It does come with Pinnacle but I don't have
the
time or energy right now to learn a different video program.
I am confused when you say that MovieMaker will not work with mpeg. Mpeg
is
supposed to be one of the formats that it will accept.
Anyway, thank you for the information. I will try that and maybe that will
also improve the quality of the video produced.

Movie maker will not work with mpeg 99.9% of the time.
Did moviebox not come with pinnacle studio? If it did this will edit your
mpeg file.
If not you have a few options.
Buy an mpeg editing programme such as pinnacle/Ulead videostdio/adobe
premeire elements. Then capture as mpeg and edit.
Convert the mpeg2 to a wmv file and use this in movie maker.
Buy a decent analogue capture device such as the advc range from canopus
or
miglia direcotrs cut. These connect via firewire and you capture as a
dv-avi
file using MM.

I bought SMB 10 b/c I thought it would reduce the steps for analog
capture(dvd/vcr player to make a DVD and then conversion program for
use
in
MovieMaker). However, when I captured a small test piece of video in
mpeg,
the video was jumping. I figured since it was captured in mpeg, I could
then
just import it into MM. When I tried to import it into a collection,
the
green bar quickly moved across on top but nothing on the bottom bar.
The
hourglass just kept whirling till I CtrlAltDeleted it about 10 minutes
later.
)Window Media Player does play it, however.) I was told at Best Buy
that
this
program was similar to Dazzle but could also output.
Pinnacle support said that once I made it into a movie .avi I could
import
it into MM but from reading other postings on the topic it looks like
this
would also need to be converted to a different type of avi file.
CAN I GET ANALOG INTO MM BY USING STUDIO MOVIE BOX? PLEASE HELP-I NEED
TO
MAKE A MEMORIAL VIDEO IN TWO WEEKS. THANKS
.
