Re: windows movie maker shuts down

sorry about that... the references to renaming and how many .ax files are on
a computer is about those known to be problems, not all of them.

I'll check the website wording, but very few have reported doing something
like that

PapaJohn

No, I'm not using any other file types. I consulted the Papa John site. he
recommended renaming any files that end with .ax. He said there should
only
be about 2 on a PC. He said that more than six is unusual. Well i had well
over 40. I renamed them... and ended up messing up Windows. I had to
restore
the computer to it's settings from earlier this morning. Now it's right
back
to same old same. Shutting down every couple of minutes!!! How
frusterating.

sara lee are you just using dv-avi adn wmv or do you have any other file
types in your movie?
Which version are you using?
Have you tried turing off the codecs (filters) if you are using V2.1
Have you had a look at www.papajohn.org and the crashes and hangs page
for
more advice?

I have the exact same problem as raker. I'm using avi or wmv files. it
shuts
down repeatedly without showing the error message. The rest of the
time
it
shuts down repeatedly with an error message. Who else has this problem?
Is
the program inherently flawed? I use MM very often and it constantly
shuts
down.

What are the file types you are using. MM works best with dv-avi or
wmv
for
video, wmv/wma/wav for audio and bitmap for stills.

I've put in a few frames into my timeline now, but for some reason,
when I
try to add something else to the timeline, WMM just shuts down on
me.
There's no error message in Event Viewer, and the program just
disappears.
How can I fix this? Thanks.
