Kaisu,
I ran into this exact problem with another video editor (Multiquence)
using MP3 audio sources. Try converting the MP3 file to a .WAV file.
This will remove the compression so MM2 should be able to reliably sync
the audio. You can use Windows Media Player to do the conversion if
you don't have any way to do the conversion. This trick worked for me
with Multiquence.

Hi, I'm running Movie Maker 2.1 and I'm making an AMV (anime music video)
with close to 100 seperate clips set to an mp3. However, once I got more
than
two clips put together, unless I start from the very beginning, the music
and
the clips do not sync up. If I try and select a specific spot on the
timeline
and play from there, the video plays fine, but the songs plays from a
seemingly random point.
Considering this is a music video that is about 5 minutes long (I've only
been able to muddle through the first 3 minutes), this is a hassle
because I
have to edit clip placement to fit the beat of the song and when I have
to
watch the entire video from the beginning to edit a 1/3 of a second clip
spacing, then preview it again to check my work, it takes a lot of time
and
removies any efficiency from the project.
I've tried freeing up RAM. I've tried saving the video and then importing
it
back, muting it, adding the music back and continuing there. Doesn't
help.
Whenever there's more than 1 clip, whenever I try to preview from a point
on
the timeline or storyboard, the audio and video lose synchronision. Can
someone please help?
System specs:
Dell Latitude D600
1.6Ghz processor
80GB 5400rpm hard disk
512MB DDR RAM
Windows XP SP2/ Movie Maker 2.1
No viruses, no spyware, no adware, so on and so forth. I keep a clean and
organized computer, so I see no reason why this should be happening.
