These things may help:
1. Update your video card drivers.
2. Reinstall Windows Media Player
3. Reinstall Windows Media Encoder.
4. Convert all your audio to WAV format
5. Convert all your input videos to WMV or DV AVI format.
6. If your project has become too complex with many clips/pictures and
effects & transitions etc. break it into shorter sub projects.

im trying to make a movie using avi format videos and mp3 format music.

biggest issue i am having is that windows movie maker does not seem play
the
timeline. i need to preview what i got so far so i can figure out what
clip i
want to add next. can anyone help me here or give me some advice on what i
should do or download?
