Why does folder end in ses, what is a ses file extension

I'm using WinMovieMaker on a WinXP-pro PC. A few months ago, I was
experimenting with capturing some movies, and so forth. Didn't know what
was doing...and probably still don't, but...
I just found some folders and files like this, with "ses" at the end...
c:\movies\dinnerwithgrandma_ses\dinnerwithgrandma.ses
c:\movies\joesparty_ses\joesparty.ses
c:\movies\cindysbirthday_ses\cindysbirthday.ses
What's all the "ses" stuff. Since there is only ONE ses file per "_ses"
folder...can I just delete the "_ses" folder and put all the ".ses" files
into one big folder, like this...
c:\movies\dinnerwithgrandma.ses
\joesparty.ses
\cindysbirthday.ses
