Check the 64-bit NG but I think you can install the final x64 version over
the trial. What I'm not sure is if you can install the x64 trial over the
top of 32 bit version. I clean installed my x64... and also dual boot with
a 32 bit Server 2003. I generally run Server 2003 but if I need to do any
video work, I reboot into x64.
I haven't found a great deal of speed increase on my 3200+ AMD 64 on a
Socket 939 over my P4 3.0 Prescott, on any video application but your CPU is
a great deal more powerful than mine. I have however found it amazingly
stable....
As you'll probably find out, Roxio won't install on x64, but Nero works
better on x64 than on 32-bit. I guess if I purchased another license for
Nero and put it on the P4 (which is actually my MCE 2005) I could run a
better side by side comparison, but they are in different rooms, so I'd have
to run between the living room and the Server Room. My x64 is next to
another AMD 64, but that runs my Server platform and isn't dual booting
anything!
Inkjet printer drivers are almost impossible to find right now, motherboard
drivers are obviously up to the motherboard manufacturers, but you want to
make sure every driver is available before you embark on your quest or
you'll find yourself booting from one partition to the other rather
frequently - or saving files, then moving to another PC with a 32 bit
platform, and printing from that one!
DVD2PocketPC v2.5 certainly works better on x64 than on 32-bit. I haven't
done a lot with WMM, but what I have done seems to run just fine. WinDVD
Creator also works fine on x64. So does WinDVD v6, I have v7 on my MCE and
notebook.
Let us know how it goes.
