while your intentions are indeed honorable, I too agree you may be going
about this the wrong way. First of all, your argument that people can't
afford a small piece of software doesn't hold up. 1) these people have
already afforded a computer, and a web cam, surely a minimal investment into
the right piece of software is not out of the questions and 2) there are
MANY MANY free alternatives to what you are trying to do that were designed
for this purpose. Just because you haven't figured out how to use Windows
media encoder, doesn't mean it is too complicated, in fact, If you use the
wizzard it is probabbly easier to use for most people than figuring out how
to use moviemaker for the first time. there are also hundreds of webcam
applications (some free) which will time capture, hide in the background,
stream pictures or movies, allow for remote administration, email alerts,
motion sensor, time stamp, multiple cameras (for multiple rooms or multiple
views in the same room.) and can be very easy to set up.
