Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close

I used movie maker to download video from an external source. I adjusted some
of the settings in the video capture wizard. I now get an error message
stating "Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close, we
are sorry for the inconvenience" every time I open movie maker. This is
despite trying to change the settings back to what I think they were.
Pushing the debug button on the error message doesn't seem to help. Any
thoughts? This is version 2.1, preinstalled, and it used to work.
