Re: WMM2 as [free] Nannycam

Thank you Rehan!
I AM pretty much stuck on this idea. WMM2 is installed on millions of XP
computers around the world. WMM2 already provides for "Capture time limit" of
1-23 hours. The dozen commercial software offerings currently available cost
$50, are based upon Windows Media Encoder, and include confusing e-mail
alerts, streaming, webserver configuration behind the firewall, and
remote-viewing frills. Millions of at-risk children worldwide live in homes
that can't afford the $50 and can't understand 10 pages of "how to configure
your new nannycam behind Windows Firewall.
My children are grown and I personally don't want/need a nanny or
babysitter. But millions of parents worldwide for many reasons have a need
for a simple minimalist Nannycam and WMM2 is already on their computers.
Imagine if Microsoft tweaked WMM2 and advertised this free additional
function. Your point is well taken that Microsoft intentionally disabled
screensaver during the 1-23 hour capture option to avoid processing drain.
But P4 computers today can easily handle this load. I think that if even one
child was rescued by Windows [unrealized] Nannycam it would be worth
Microsoft's programming time to tweak WMM2. I do remain stuck on this idea.
I want Microsoft to provide the world with a simple minimalist [and free]
Nannycam for the masses by tweaking WMM2. I then want them to advertise that
new function.
Thank you Rehan for contributing your thoughtful comments!
