In my newsletter #50 today, I went into some depth about converting MPEG-2
source files to AVI....
After 2 years of walking a line between encouraging users to get an MPEG-2
codec that lets you work with such files, and converting the files to
something that works, I just revised my website page > Importing Source
Files > Video > MPEG-2.
It no longer mentions the codec that might work... it goes straight to the
conversion... and for conversion, I have 2 recommended tools to render a new
DV-AVI file from the MPEG-2 file:
(1) Movie Maker itself
(2) VDubMod with the Panasonic DV codec
More info and links are on the revised page.
