What are the specs on your laptop?
I ask because I recently bought a laptop. It's running at 3GHz, with 512
RAM, and 128MB video (but it's shared) so I'm working with about 384MB of
RAM. I'm working on a 15 minute film with fades, music track, titles, the
usual stuff, and WMM will freeze after I do too many mouse clicks to select
and preview video clips (being impatient and pushing my luck). But I've also
had the same experience as you... where I'm just watching a few minutes of
video, and it freezes "for no reason". Sometimes the audio runs, sometimes
my whole system freezes. When I look at my system usage, I'm maxing out the
RAM. I've been told that a Gig of RAM really helps.
I'm new to video editing, but from all my related reading on the subject,
your system needs a minimum of a 2GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, and 64MB of
video.
Perhaps more experienced WMM users can shed some light on this one.
