You say it's a Digital Cam... what brand and model? Camcorder or still
camera with video clip features?

If it's a digital camcorder you should be connecting by firewire, not USB...
if it's a digital still camera with extra features, you should use the
software that came with the camera to get the file, and then do a conversion
as needed to use it in Movie Maker.
