Dean,
There are no codecs listed in the compatibility list.
No error is the system logs , for the app events, security , or system.
I did compile a small 179 kb file at the setting for a 33.6 dial up modem if
my mememory serves me right. Tried to do the same file at the high quality
small size setting, crash.
Let me take a min to explain the crash. When MM2 or Media Player or Notepad
( only 3 that exhibit this behavior ) crash , here is what happens.
I hear a click, sounds like when montitor goes into power save mode, when it
clicks off - make sense ? The hard drive light glows steady, but hear no HD
noises. Its like it just locks up, freezes. SO there is no way the log files
would have a chance to write anything. I think which explains no errors or
warnings in the logs.
I have done thorough scan on drive, no bad sectors. Is there a way to check
my ram mem ? I really dont have the funds to buy another stick, to see if
that is the problem. A diagnostic utility to see if it is going bad.
Thing is, if I go into safe mode, i can play a media file, just no audio.
tried MM2 in safe mode but wouldnt load as there were no audio drivers
loaded.
As said above, only those 3 programs shut the system down cold.
Aslo, there is a file called runll32. that runs at boot time, for vid card.
But this file stays present when I use task manager, should'nt it unload
after it does its thing ? Actually this file is called on twice during the
start up for separate processes.
