for $179.99. I used my 5005 to do this kind of project --- straight recording or to convert VHS tapes to DVD any format possible in real time recording. I can also record over 6 hrs into a DVD without using MM2.1 BUT I can also uses it to add titles & credits or add still picture, etc. I can also uses Pause control in 5005 to Cut. I saved lots of $$ and times by using my 5005 --- especially, almost zero time attendance or no need to watch recording.
Oh yeah, I used S-video cable and 2 audio cable. My VCR is a Sony SLV-N51.

I have at least 30 VHS tapes of home stuff (recorded in EP mode, i.e. 6
hours per tape) that I want to move to DVD as cheaply and easily as possible.
Since they are six hours in length, it means that I will have to use at
least four miniDV tapes to process a VHS tape, which then equates to >12
hours to process a VHS tape (I was really hoping to cut down that processing
time).
