Hi PapaJohn,
I've tested WinDV with my FireWire cable connected from PC to DVD Recorder. All my Recorder setup are correctly set --- especially
set to record from DV source. I've to pressed Record twice on WinDV to start and video never come out and the Error message say:
"Device not found!"

I did tried connecting to DV Camera using the same procedure and video appears in WinDV screen and also in Camera LCD. No problem
on Camera recording. BUT when I tried to trick my DVD Recorder by connecting the FireWire cable again for testing. The black
screen on DVD Recorder turn to white BUT still no DV signal appearing and the DVD Recorder is NOT even recording. It start to
record when it see a DV signal as input source. I switch to Play mode to check and found the last Chapter is still Empty.

Maybe I really need a device driver and I already eMail the manufacturer about it.

Regards,
Rino

Hi PapaJohn,
Thank You for answering all my 4 questions! Now I'm learning from an expert. Your #1 & #2 answers make me understand clearly well.
I'll report on #3 later and no more problem on #4 --- I already got it in one straight Credits clip. After many attempts I finally
got it correctly done. I have to watch those blanks entries being created at the end --- maybe it's too many blanks that affect
the correct outcome. My correct one straight Credits clip has ONLY one blank entries at the end.

I hope the programmers who wrote it will correct this clinch and let us do multiple entries Copy & Paste or Drag because if I want
to add a new credits name which must be way up the top and as of now I've to Copy & Paste each name and could only do one entry at
a time to transfer it downwardly. I think this is not computing and primitive software designed.

Regards,
Rino

Hi Rino,

1 - Yes... both methods of burning a DVD should fit it on the disc.... DVD's are all about MPEG-2 files, not DV-AVI and what fits
on the disc are the MPEG-2 files, not the DV-AVI.

With your DV-AVI on your hard drive, you would need to use some software package to convert the file to MPEG-2 and burn the disc.
It wouldn't fit if you made a data disc and just copied the DV-AVI file. Your recorder has built-in conversion features.

2 - MPEG-2 is compressed... the more it's compressed, the more playing time that can fit on the disc.... Just like WMV files are
compressed and the size and quality varies from small email attached videos to High Definition. Your software might have similar
setting options to your DVD Recorder.

3 - I don't have any experience with a DVD Recorder... if it doesn't appear to Movie Maker as a camcorder appears, then maybe
copying the DV-AVI file from your hard drive to the recorder using the WInDV utility might work.

Consider making your scrolling text credits clip in Photo Story 3 and bringing it into MM2 .... check the 'Sample Text Clip' link
I have on the Photo Story 3 > Add Titles page of my site. You can fit lots of text on a single picture.

  Hello PapaJohn, et al, Greetings!
I've completed a movie project and saved in DV-AVI over 10GB size in one 60 minute MiniDV tape and also saved in my hard drive.
To burn DVD from my DVD-RW I can use DV-AVI in my hard drive or I can also use the tape to record to my DVD Recorder and choose
1-hour of recording for optimum quality video.
  My questions are:
  1. Will it fit into a 4.7GB DVD-R? And also true in both method of burning?
  2. Why is that in DVD Recorder we can choose 1hr, 2hrs, 4hrs, & even 6hrs of recording quality and not possible in DVD-RW
method?
  3. How I could record directly to DVD Recorder by using my hard drive DV-AVI files? Both PC & DVD Recorder has IEEE-1394 in/out
port BUT MM2 has no #6 choices to select "DVD Recorder" out.
I'm positively sure BUT never try yet for No. 1 on my DVD Recorder because I'm waiting for a better solution to my last problem
in earlier posts of; How I could write long Credits names at the end of movie and using Scrolling Up Animation? I've tried using
4 Credits clips by joining them but the joints has short blank video portion (I even tried lapping joints) ---consider lousy in
scrolling animation and I've to type a period [ . ] at the beginning of 2nd and up to last Credits clips because without the
period there --- all my names were deleted in the first & top entries when I go back to make edit. Could it be a bug?
Again, I really need your kind help, TIA.

You can put about an hour of good quality video on a DVD..... so maybe
  you're aligned.
The suggestions to save as DV-AVI is for those heading toward DVDs also, not
just those going back to tape.
