Yes thats what I am saying.

For some reason the upgrade to MM2 does not remove required DLLs for MM1.
Actually these DLLs were special in the first place since these were
protected by WFP (Windows File Protection). Therefore it seems all DLLs and
relevant registry entries remain intact when upgrading to WMM2 via windows
update or otherwise; or upgrading to WMM2.1 by installing SP2. Only thing
that gets overwritten is moviemk.exe file, however many new DLLs are
installed.

Hence bringing "moviemk.exe" file from the original XP CD, or SP1 CD or
anywhere else works just fine. The trick is not to over write the WMM2
executable, so copy the file somewhere else first, rename it (to say
mm1.exe) and then copy the renamed file into "C:\Program Files\Movie Maker"
folder.

It is actually somewhat beneficial to have both versions since:

* MM1 provide 30 fps working environemnt (compared to MM2's 15fps)
* Saves in older DV AVI Type 2 (compared to MM2's Type 1).

This trick was discussed on www.papajohn.org website a while ago and more
info is present there.
