I have had the same problem, movie created fine if not using transitions
and effects, added a transition and an ease in effect on every picture, and
could not get more than half way through a 20 min movie without the video
freezing, but audio continuing. I finally was successful by reducing the
quality and resolution way down (almost unwatchable)
never have found a good answer. - sorry

Try saving the file to the hard drive and then using third party software to
burn to the VCD
