Can' Capture Video

Have a Sony Vaio with Windows Movie Maker. When trying to capture analog video (camcorder) using the composite video in I get the message that the video capture device was not detected. What needs to be done to capture video. I have checked all connections and made sure the camcorder was on play. Really need help!!
