640x480 is the appropriate resolution if you are heading toward watching on
a DVD/TV. That's the standard size for digital camcorders and for making
DVDs. www.DVDRHelp.com is a good place to go for some reference info. If
your 42" TV isn't high definition, then it's for that one too.

You can save to higher WMV formats if you use custom profiles.... see the
Saving Movies > Custom WMV Profiles page of www.papajohn.org

You should be picking the DV-AVI option when saving and heading toward a TV.
Then you don't have to worry about bitrates.... yes, higher ones equate to
higher quality.

Archive on your digital camcorder tape at full DV-AVI for your highest
quality.

Yes, you can either set a trim point on an audio clip or cut it. A right
mouse click on the clip gives you a Fade Out option.... which ramps it down
in a bit under a second.

I just got started with Windows Movie Maker 2 today by using still pictures
to put together a slide show with music and some effects. That's been going
fine...

resolution that a video can be saved as. Is this correct?

television? I'm not sure how computer resolutions translate into TV
viewing. I have a 42 inch television. Would the video fill the whole
screen, or just a small window? Would it be a mess (stretched and
pixelized?)?

to pick manually and not let windows pick)? The options they present are a
bit confusing. Are higher kbs always better? (Assuming local viewing and
not trying to make web friendly)? "High Quality, Large" isn't very
informative!
