windows live messenger 8.5 contacts

I have live messenger 8.5 installed and I couldn't see all my contacts so I
looked in the help and did what it suggested there (showing all the folders
etc. and deleting the files in documents and settings) but I still can't see
all my contacts.
If I look in messenger under options-privacy at the list of accepted and
rejected contacts, all my contacts are there in accepted.
Is there a solution to resolve this?
