Re: windows messenger

Hi,

For the record, I have tried to get this fixed, unsuccessfully. :(

Gee thanks man, almost tore my hair out after upgrading to live messenger 8.5
then getting this error -

Your invitation was not sent because you need the latest version of
Messenger to use the Remote Assistance feature.

Found you reply, followed the link & it worked like magic.

Happy Bunny again!!!

Greetings Matthew,

What's indicating is that you need Windows Messenger installed to do Remote Assistance in
Windows Live Messenger.

Yes you need the old Windows Messenger to do something in the latest Windows Live
Messenger.
I realize the wording is wrong and I realize the link is wrong. It's been reported and
someday Microsoft might even fix it.

Anyway, what you need to do is install Windows Messenger (you don't need to use it, it
just
has to be there) from:
http://microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a8d9eb73-5f8c-4b9a-940f-9157a3b3d774

After this, Remote Assistance should work from Windows Live Messenger.

I am hoping you can help me.
I am running winXP Pro, serv pk 2, installed the latest and greatest Windows
Live Messenger (even tried the Beta version), and when I try to use Remote
Assistance I get this message:
Your invitation was not sent because you need the latest version of
Messenger to use the Remote Assistance feature. Please go to the Windows Live
Messenger update site to install the latest version.

I have tried to uninstall, reboot, reinstall, in various ways and cannot
seem to solve the problem.

Can you help?

Thanks,

Mathew
