Greetings Tanya,
This is normal, both a contacts' personal message and display name is retained when they
go
offline.
So if they show as offline, they're offline.

One of my contacts informs me that she is now shutting her computer down at
night, however, I've noticed that her "away message", i.e., fixing dinner -
whatever -is still showing up on my computer. How is this possible? My
guess is she's not really shutting her system down. Any comments? Thanks!
