Upgrade/update from Messenger 4.7 to MSN 7.51

I am running WINXP SP2 with all security/criticals up to date, and Office
2000.
I need to update messenger to enable video and audio contact with family and
friends, most of whom have WLM.
Having looked through two groups dealing with messenger in one form or
another and seeing what is on offer on MS downloads, I rather favour MSN
7.51, which would appear to give me what I require, as I do not think
Messenger 5 will.
I will get the download as per links given in other threads - will this save
to disc to enable an install from there?
Messenger 4.7 is not in add/remove but is in Win Components from where I can
disable it, I assume, or perhaps remove the folder from Prog Files.
Are there any other pieces of messenger that should be removed.
Can I assume that this removal and cleanup should be done prior to install?
Thank you
Rgds
