Greetings,
I'm afraid not. There's two workarounds I know of, neither are very good.
The first, is to close the conversation windows in Windows Messenger before a scroll bar is
needed as it won't crash until it appears. So, your scenario would be this -- send a
message, hit esc, open new window with reply, send
message, hit esc. And so on.
The second workaround is to simply use a Virtual Machine (say with Virtual PC, which is a
free download) and run Windows 2000 or XP on it. Use Windows Messenger within the VM and
keep the sound alerts on to be notified of messages. It's not that great, but its actually
quite usable and preferable to having to close the window constantly (never mind forgetting
and having it crash regularly).
