Greetings Robin,
Try downloading and running each of these .reg files:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/enablewindowsmessenger_use...
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/enablemessenger.reg
After running these, reboot and then try opening Windows Messenger again.

I am running Windows XP Professional 5.1 SP2
I have a need to use Windows Messenger and yesterday using the path
from Start > All Programs showed the hour glass but no other activity.
MS did an automatic update today and still no activity from Windows
Messenger.
What have I missed?
Robin
