I'm not completely sure what you're asking, so I'll try to summarize. Just so you know,
Windows Messenger is outdated and really shouldn't be used for video communication; use
Windows Live Messenger instead.

Windows Live Messenger and MSN Messenger are completely compatible with one another and as
such, anyone with Windows 98, Millennium Edition 2000, XP, or Vista can do video
communication with you on a PC.

With iChat you're limited to just Macs (although there's AIM compatibility, it frankly is not
very good).

Although you could use a third-party application like Skype which works on both PCs and Macs
and is quite good.

Regardless which platform you go with, you should be fine on the video side, assuming your
contacts are willing to install [free] software.

I'm looking into buy a new laptop. I and stuck between an Apple of a PC. I
REALLY want to go with a PC, but i want to do video chat with my friends (the
computer will have a bult in webcam). My questions is: Can winddows messenger
do video chat with other computer do don't have that application like ichat?
If so i as most surely going for a PC
