Blue Screen Occurs seconds after messenger starts!

Can anyone help,

Recently, Windows Messenger started causing a blue screen error to occur everytime it was loaded and used for a few seconds. I realiased I was short of a few crucial updates such as IE7 and security updates so I installed these and also upgraded from Messenger 8.0 to 8.1. I am still suffering with this same problem. Can anyone help?
