Re: Future versions of Windows Messenger?

Hi Jonathan, you may remember us, our group uses American Sign Language to
IM communicate. Based on reading your observations and recommendations, we
'standardized' on MSN Messenger 7.5 which works very well including a
recently MSN Messenger 7.5 download, for Vista Premium. One of our members
upgraded from 98SE to Vista P., the other members of the group are still on
XP home and XP Pro.
Recently, we are all getting auto.suggestions to upgrade to Windows Live
Messenger.--- Question? Since W. Live Messenger is the latest incarnation of
MSN Messenger, should we all migrate to Windows Live M? --- We are happy now
and would rather not disturb our process, however, one in our group read
that Microsoft may abandon MSN Messenger as they did Windows Messenger in
favor of Windows Live Messenger. Thank you for any comments.

Greetings Dave,

Vista has no Messenger client actually -- just a link to the download of
Live Messenger (which OEMs can swap out with their own partners).

Windows Live Messenger -is- MSN Messenger.

Jason,

Thank you for the information. In Vista, did Windows Live Messenger
replace
Windows Messenger as the consumer solution, and to consolidate with MSN
Messenger? Is WLM a "go forward" product?

It is essentially a dead product.

Hello.

Does Windows Messenger have a future roadmap?

It seems that MSN Messenger, or Windows Live Messenger, have replaced
Windows Messenger for the consumer. And, Communicator has replaced
Windows
Messenger for corporate users because of its ties to Exchange and LCS.

Will there be future versions of Windows Messenger? If so, what need
does
it fulfill for consumer or corporate users that aren't fulfilled by
Windows
Live Messenger and Communicator?

Thanks - Dave
