Hi,

You asked how much system resources Windows Live Messenger uses.

Mine (8.1.0178.00) currently uses 46 kB of RAM, and 36 kB of swap. It has logged less than three minutes CPU time since logon. As a comparison, the grid application I use to hog CPU at idle priority has logged 128 hours.

I hope this is of some use as a ballpark figure.
